Outside

You can see where Luigi's wings have been clipped.  He was clipped before we got him from the breeder.  Once he molts, his wings feathers will grow back in normally, and will require to be re-clipped, if we choose to do so.  There are good arguements for clipping and against, and we will have to make that decision once we see how it is to have a fully fledged bird!

This is our favorite picture of Luigi!! What a handsome boy!

All my canine friends

Here is Luigi with Abbey Thoma at a pinic for the 4th of July. Abbey was interested in Luigi, and his food!!  Luigi was eating nuts and fruits, which must of smelled good to Abbey. Luigi didn't seem to mind that she kept following him around all day.

This is Luigi's friend, and housemate, Buddy.  Buddy is a great older brother for Luigi.  They like to share Buddy's squeaky toys, which Luigi can imitate exactly.  They each chew on Buddy's toys together, Buddy on one end, Luigi on the other.  Luigi also shares his food with Buddy.  He will throw food off of his playstand onto the floor where Buddy intently waits to pick up the pieces.
Although Buddy is the bigger of the two, Luigi is the one that calls the shots!

My beak is changing!

Luigi's beak is continually getting less and less black.  Once he is an adult, his beak will be like a candycorn... orange on top and bright yellow on the tip.

Beware... I Bite!!

This picture is simply priceless.  This is Curt's Uncle Tommy meeting Luigi for the first time.  Luigi has a tendency of biting (lightly) the top of your ears and chewing on your glasses.  Tommy wasn't quite sure he liked having a bird on his shoulder, and he let out a little "yikes" when Luigi nibbled on him!

Luigi's Toy Chest

Luigi has a large assortment of human baby toys that we purchased for him on eBay.  He will play with them, but he rather play with cardboard!  He will chew up any toilet paper roll, or shoe box.  He loves to tear up paper and straws.  Anything is a toy to a parrot!

Shower Time!

Yes, this is Luigi!! This is what our beautiful baby boy looks like wet!! Luigi LOVES taking a shower.  You can just take Luigi in the shower with you, and he does the rest.  He opens his wings up wide and moves around in the shower to be sure that all of his body gets wet!

Tired Baby

Luigi slept a lot during the first few months!  He would take cat naps all the time!  For a while it seemed like all he did was eat and sleep!  But that was just because he was growing so quickly!

Going Home!

Luigi was frightened of us during the 3 hour car ride home from the breeders. He spent half of the trip in the corner of his travel cage, which you can see in this picture.  He growled at us (yes, parrots growl!! ) We were worried at this point, and asked eachother, "what did we get ourselves into?!" But, he eventually warmed up to us and rode the second half of the trip on Lauren's lap.

Filling Out

Luigi was about 8 weeks here.  He sure looks like the ugly duckling... but he did grow into such a beautiful boy!!

Baby Luigi

Luigi started to sprout green feathers, here at about 5 weeks. The other baby was his sister. We purchased Luigi from Sugarcreek Bird Farm in Bellbrook, Ohio.  You can visit their site at: http://www.sugarcreekbirdfarm.com/
